The legendary Fisk University Choir will perform a benefit concert from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Sherman United Methodist Church, 2214 Ridge Ave. The concert celebrates the church’s 92nd year of Christian discipleship in Evanston.

Originally known as the Mozart Society, the Fisk University Choir was established in 1879 to assist the world renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers during their heavy touring season.

“We are honored to host this concert that provides finances for deserving students in helping them realize their dream of a college education,” said Lawrence Hamilton, a member of the Sherman congregation.

The Music Director is Dr. Christopher A. Duke. Tickets, at $30, are available by calling 847-475-1973 or emailing shermanumc@sbcglobal.net.
