On Oct. 17, Blair Aikens, 28, of Skokie was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Armed Habitual Criminal, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. Cook County Circuit Court Judge Marguerite Quinn of the 2nd Municipal District in Skokie issued the sentence after Aikens was found guilty last month in a jury trial, the Commander said. Mr. Aikens’ sentence requires a mandatory eighty-five percent of prison time to be served due to the seriousness of this offense, he added.
Mr. Aikens was originally arrested in July of 2013 with Antoine Hill for possession of a firearm by Evanston Police, said the Commander. Mr. Hill is still awaiting trial in the Cook County court system.
