On Oct. 23, at approximately 11:50 p.m. Evanston police responded to call that a man was shot in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a 26-year old Chicago man who had been shot in the buttocks, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The police’s preliminary investigation indicates that the man had been visiting friends inside a residence at the location when he stepped out into the gangway of the building and was shot by a man who had emerged from the back yard, said the Commander.
The victim was transported by Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services paramedics to Evanston North Shore University Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. Detectives are attempting to develop suspect information and are trying to determine a motive, but the victim, who has a history of gang ties, is uncooperative, said Commander Parrott.
