Evanston seniors Carl Klamm and Estaban Escabar survived to run another day after advancing out of the Class 3A Loyola Academy regional cross country meet at Harms Woods.

Klamm placed 15th overall with a time of 16 minutes, 11 seconds over the 3 mile course and Escabar ran 29th in 16:40. Both were among the runners who were not members of the top five teams that will also advance to next Saturday’s sectional at Niles West.

The Wildkits also counted senior Conrad Gordon, 38th in 16:54; Spencer Eanes, 42nd in 17:04; and Paul Clarke, 47th in 17:13. Evanston racked up 171 points and finished 7th in the team standings behind sectional team qualifiers New Trier (32), Maine South (67), Loyola Academy (90), Niles North (96) and Niles West (158), along with 6th place finisher Glenbrook North (165).
