Paced by 7th place individual finisher Emma Dzwierzynski, the Evanston girls cross country team easily qualified out of the Illinois High School Association Class 3A Loyola Academy Regional meet on Saturday with a 5th place finish.

The top five teams automatically advance to next Saturday’s Niles West Sectional.  Evanston’s  121 team points trailed only champion New Trier (24), Loyola (70), Maine South (93) and Glenbrook South (94) in the 9-team field.

Dzwierzynski, a sophomore, was timed in 18 minutes, 40 seconds on her way to a 7th place finish. New Trier’s Mimi Smith captured the individual championship in 17:18.

Next best for the Wildkits were freshman Sophie Levine, 13th in 19:23; junior Hannah Hayat, 28th in 20:15; junior Gabrielle Dinsmore, 36th in 20:45; and senior Camilla Zecker, 37th in 20:57.
