The City of Evanston invites community members to participate in the 9th Annual Paint Evanston Plows Contest by casting their vote online at cityofevanston.org/snowplowcontest. Votes can also be submitted by calling 847-448-4311.
Every year, the Streets and Sanitation Division invites all public and private schools in Evanston to paint murals on the blades of City snow plows. Eight schools participated in this year’s contest, including Dawes, Kingsley and Lincolnwood elementary schools; Chute, Haven and Nichols middle schools; and St. Athanasius and Roycemore schools. Students were encouraged to depict school, city, holiday or winter spirit through this year’s theme, “Imagine…Fountain Square.”
The decorated plow blades are currently on display in front of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., Evanston. Voting closes on Monday, November 10 at 5 p.m.
On Monday, November 17, at the City Council meeting, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl will present plaques to winners in the following categories: “Best Theme Spirit,” “Evanstonian’s Choice,” and “Mayor’s Choice.”
