On Oct. 25, many community members came together to help various organizations such as District 65, Y.O.U., YWCA, PEER Services, Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, Connections for the Homeless and the City of Evanston, as part of the United Way Evanston Day of Caring volunteer event.

Volunteers of all ages helped with city-wide park cleanup and tree planting, mentorship activities, beautification projects and more.

The event was a part of USA WEEKEND Magazine’s “Make a Difference Day,” which is the nation’s largest day of community service intended to celebrate a day of neighbors helping neighbors.

“It was inspiring for us to spend the morning with students from Evanston Township High School who care about their community and seek to give back,” said YWCA Evanston/Northshore Events and Grants Manager Timmy Stamell.
