Every year, the Streets and Sanitation Division invites all public and private schools in Evanston to paint murals on the blades of City snow plows. This is the ninth year for the Paint Evanston Plows contest.  This year, eight schools participated in this year’s contest:  Dawes, Kingsley and Lincolnwood elementary schools; Chute, Haven and Nichols middle schools; and St. Athanasius and Roycemore schools. Students were encouraged to depict school, city, holiday or winter spirit through this year’s theme,  Imagine…Fountain Square.”

The decorated plow blades are currently on display in front of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.

The City of Evanston invites community members to cast their votes  either online at cityofevanston.org/snowplowcontest or by calling. Voting closes at 5 p.m. on Nov. 10.

At the Nov. 17 City Council meeting, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl will present plaques to winners in the following categories: “Best Theme Spirit,” “Evanstonian’s Choice,” and “Mayor’s Choice.”
