Students from eight local elementary and middle schools entered the annual Paint Evanston’s Plows contest this year. Winners were announced at the Nov. 17 City Council. Public Works Director Suzette Robinson named her choice for “best-themed” plow, that of Roycemore School, but that honor went to St. Athanasius and Haven schools.

Kingsley, Lincolnwood, Nichols and Roycemore each received an honorable mention. St. A’s received the “Evanston Choice” award by popular vote online. Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl chose the plows painted by Dawes and Chute students for the Mayor’s Choice awards. No longer on display along Ridge Avenue in front of the Morton Civic Center, the plows and their drivers were dispatched to the streets after the awards ceremony to address the light but blowing snow.
