All wannabe sugar plum fairies and toy soldiers of every age should dig out their sparkles and buff up their dancing shoes, as the Evanston Dance Ensemble will present another season of a dance-along holiday classic: the “Dance It Yourself Nutcracker.”

The mother/daughter team of Tess Dinerstein, a Chute Middle School student, and Angela Allyn, a former professional dancer, return again this year with yards of chiffon and lots of tiaras. There will be capes and swords for the soldiers, tutus for the ballerinas, and those who came to watch may be inspired to join in.

Shows will take place at 1:30 and 3 p.m. on Dec. 14, at Dance Center Evanston, in the Dempster/Dodge Plaza at 1934 Dempster St. Suggested donation: $5 per person or $10 per family.
