Evanston Police are currently investigating a pedestrian accident involving a United Parcel Service (UPS) delivery truck at Central St. and Ashland Ave. that occurred at 5:00 PM today.  A female 30 year old Evanston resident was walking across Ashland Ave. when a UPS truck had turned southbound onto Ashland Ave. striking the pedestrian, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department.  The female pedestrian was trapped under the truck until Evanston Fire Department personnel were able to transport the pedestrian to Evanston-Northshore University Hospital for treatment.

The victim has multiple injuries that are considered to be life threatening at this time, said the Commander. The Major Crash Assistance Team  (MCAT) has been called to the scene. The streets will be closed in the area of Central St. and Ashland Ave. for the next 2 hours while investigators look further into the cause of the accident.
