Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and Evanston Township High School District 202 are partnering to host the inaugural “State of the Schools” event on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Evanston Township High School.
This will be the first time in recent history that the two districts will partner in hosting a community-wide event to discuss the state of the public schools in Evanston and Skokie.
Superintendents Paul Goren (District 65) and Eric Witherspoon (District 202) will share their visions on how the Evanston/Skokie public schools can prepare all students for future success.
“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with our colleagues at ETHS in hosting an event for our community to learn more about the wonderful things taking place within our schools as well as some of the challenges we face and our visions for the future,” said Paul Goren, District 65 Superintendent. “We are fortunate to have a community that not only supports but celebrates public education. It’s important that we work together so that we may provide every opportunity for success for every one of our children.”
The event is free and open to the public. All parents, students, alumni, staff, current and potential residents, and people who work in Evanston/Skokie organizations or businesses are invited to attend and learn more about the current state of D65/D202 schools. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with a welcome reception in the Michael Cafeteria. The State of the Schools address will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The program will end with a Q&A session. All those in attendance will have the opportunity to submit a question on the evening of the event. In addition, questions can be submitted online in advance via Google Moderator: http://tinyurl.com/lsfb5ou. Not all questions submitted can be read during the State of the Schools event. Questions submitted via Google Moderator must be received by 5:00 p.m. two days before the event.
Those who are unable to attend the event can watch live on Evanston Comcast channel 18 or on the ETHS Ustream channel beginning at 7:00 p.m.: www.ustream.tv/channel/evanston-township-high-school.
“Educating our youth is a top priority of our community, the biggest investment we make for the future,” said ETHS D202 Superintendent Eric Witherspoon. “We hope many people will attend or tune-in to gain a better understanding of how these two fine school districts are working hand-in-hand to provide continuity and excellence in the educational experiences of our students.”
Evanston Township High School is located at 1600 Dodge Avenue and the auditorium is wheelchair accessible. Parking is recommended in the lot directly across from the auditorium entrance on Dodge Avenue or in the parking lots behind the school.
