Evanston Police Chief Richard Eddington announced the promotion of Police Commander Jay Parrott to the position of Deputy Police Chief.
Deputy Police Chief Parrott will oversee the department’s Investigative Services Division, filling the position vacated by Deputy Chief Joe Wazny, who is moving on to become Chief of Police in Manhattan, Ill.
“Commander Parrott is a long-serving veteran of the Evanston Police Department, and has served with distinction in many units,” Chief Eddington said.
Deputy Chief Parrott has been with the Evanston Police Department since 1992, serving in the patrol division, tactical bureau, NET (neighborhood enforcement team) unit and detective bureau as a police officer, detective and supervisor.
In his position as commander, he supervised patrol shifts and community policing, and currently serves as the department’s spokesperson and executive officer.
