After months of listening, planning and getting input from nearly 2,000 teachers, staff members, parents, students and community members, a draft of the District 65 strategic plan is nearly complete. The document will be available on the District 65 website for public review and comment on the evening of January 28. Many thanks to those who have participated, thus far. Your feedback is truly valued and has been critical in developing the plan.
It’s not too late to get involved. The public comment period will begin on January 28 and will end on February 11. We hope that you will take some time to review the plan and to share your thoughts and concerns with us.
There are several ways that you can provide feedback during the public comment period:
Online feedback form. The draft District 65 strategic plan and the online feedback form can be found on the district’s website at www.district65.net.
Hard copy of the feedback form. Hard copies of the draft District 65 strategic plan and the feedback form will also be available at each District 65 school.
Town hall meetings. The draft District 65 strategic plan will be presented for discussion at three town hall meetings being held on the following dates:
• Feb. 3 from 7-9 p.m. at Chute Middle School (1400 Oakton St.)
• Feb. 5 from 7-9 p.m. at Nichols Middle School (800 Greenleaf St.)
• Feb. 7 from 9-11 a.m. at Haven Middle School (2417 Prairie Ave.)
All feedback will be reviewed and considered. Yet, it is important that we maintain and honor the planning process and the long, hard work of the committees to develop goals and strategies through a consensus process. Comments that come up frequently will be especially useful as we strengthen and finalize the plan.
The strategic planning process has been a wonderful example of what is great about our community – families, students, community members and educators coming together to share insights, to celebrate our strengths and to wrestle with our challenges with a clear focus on what is best for all of our students.
Many thanks for all you do to support District 65, our schools and our students. And, thanks in advance for your feedback on the draft of the strategic plan.
