On Jan. 30 at approximately 1:20 a.m., a person called police after observing a man rummaging through a parked vehicle in the 2100 block of Grant Street, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. Police were able to locate a subject, who was identified by the caller as the individual observed inside the vehicle, said the Commander. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and stated he did not give permission for the subject to enter his vehicle which was left unlocked at the time of the incident.

Upon questioning, the subject, a 48 year-old Evanston resident, admitted he entered the vehicle and removed loose change from inside. The subject also had other items on his person which police determined were from inside an unlocked vehicle in the 2400 block of Brown Avenue, said the Commander.

The subject was charged with one count of Burglary to Vehicle and one count of Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property.
