Evanston Township High School and all District 65 schools are closed today, Feb. 2.

The City of Evanston provided the following information on Feb. 2.

Approximately 20 inches of snow fell on Evanston yesterday, making this the fourth largest snow fall in Chicago weather history. As of 7a.m., main roads in Evanston are clear, with primarily wet pavement. Secondary streets have been plowed and salted.

Today’s primary focus will be residential streets. Today’s snow emergency will allow for more efficient curb-to-curb  plowing in residential areas. The majority of Evanston’s crews will be working residential streets with the objective of cleared curb to curb streets.

Today and tomorrow are declared snow emergencies. Extension of the snow emergency may be required as clean up unfolds.

Recycling and solid waste will occur, but, due to the volume of snow, delays are likely.

Business district cleanups have started and will continue each night this week until all have the parking spaces and meters are opened up.
