On Feb. 6, Evanston Police detectives took a 14-year old male, a resident of Evanston, into custody in connection with a residential burglary in the 1300 block of Davis Street that took place on Jan. 28, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. Police were able to identify the juvenile suspect through the use of a credit card that was stolen in the incident, said the Commander. During the arrest, police recovered a cellular telephone that was taken in a residential burglary in the 1600 block of Ashland Avenue that took place on Jan, 28, said the Commander. In both instances, the doors to the residences were left unlocked.
The juvenile was charged with one count of residential burglary, one count of unlawful use of a credit card and one count of possession of stolen property, said Commander Dugan. He added that at the time of the arrest, the juvenile was on electronic monitoring through the juvenile justice system for a previous burglary arrest.
