SSG Kevin Dunn

SSG Kevin Dunn was born in Evanston, Illinois, on 14 May 1983. His military service began with basic training at D Co, 247^th Infantry Battalion at Ft. Benning, GA on 30 April 2003.  From there he was assigned to D Co, 554^th Engineer Battalion where he attended and graduated Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as a Topographic Analyst in December 2003.  In January 2004 he was assigned to the 610^th Engineer Detachment where he served as a Topographic Analyst in Fort Hood, TX.  Upon arrival SSG Dunn immediately deployed to Iraq from January until March 2004. In November 2004, SSG Dunn was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4^th Combat Aviation Brigade 4^th Infantry Division where he served as a Topographic Analyst and Team Leader.  There he took over as the Company Retention NCO.   SSG Dunn Deployed with the 4^th Combat Aviation Brigade to Iraq in November 2005 until November 2006 and again in June 2008 until June 2009. Upon his return SSG Dunn continued to serve as the Company Retention NCO until his completion of the Career Counselor course in December 2010. As a new Career Counselor, SSG Dunn was then assigned to 4^th Battalion 4^th Aviation Brigade Fort Hood, TX, where he deployed to Afghanistan in July 2010 until July 2011. Because of his units BRAC move to FT. Bliss, TX, SSG Dunn was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, III Corps in October 2011. In March 2012 SSG Dunn was assigned to the 1^st Engineer Brigade where he currently serves as the Brigade Career Counselor in FT. Leonard Wood, MO. 

SSG Dunn’s military education includes the Warrior Leader Course, the Advanced Leader Course, the Senior Leader Course, and the Basic Career Counselor Course. He is currently pursuing his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Grantham University.  SSG Dunn’s awards and badges include the Army Commendation Medal (3^rd Award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (3^rd Award, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (3^rd Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3^rd Award), Army Service Ribbon Overseas Service Ribbon, Nato Medal, Army Valorous Unit Citation, Army Meritorious Unit Citation and Career Counselor Badge.  SSG Dunn is married to Anais Dunn and has three girls and two boys between the two.

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNED DUTIES

SSG Kevin Dunn serves as the Brigade Career Counselor for the 1^st Engineer Brigade. As a member of the Brigade Commander’s special staff, SSG Dunn advises Commander, Command Sergeant Major Leaders and Soldiers on matters pertaining to the Total Army Retention Program. SSG Dunn serves as advisor and provides direct support for one training brigade and five tenant units located in five different States. SSG Dunn reviews actions for accuracy, interprets regulations, conducts staff assistance visits, manages objectives, statistics, budget, and incentive and awards programs. SSG Dunn plans and conducts training as well as supports the Reserve Transition Program.
