Enjoy Specials and Sales throughout the City March 7, We Love Evanston Day

The City of Evanston is proud to announce Saturday, March 7 as “We Love Evanston Day.” The day has been created as a way to bring community members together to enjoy everything Evanston has to offer while celebrating the city’s participation in the World Wildlife Fund’s We Love Cities Challenge.
Throughout the day, participants will enjoy special photo opportunities for the entire family, discounted items, and free fitness classes from various Evanston businesses, including The Barre Code Evanston, Envy, Urban Yoga Chicago, Walsh Natural Health, Stumble & Relish, and more.
“We Love Evanston Day” will also include three free featured events:
- Smile with Ronald McDonald
Beginning at 10 a.m., families are invited to McDonald’s, located at 1919 Dempster St., for a special photo opportunity with Ronald McDonald. The 40-minute event is open to the public. - Meet Willie the Wildkit at Little Beans
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., families that visit Little Beans Café, located at 430 Asbury Ave., will get to meet, play and take photos with ETHS’s mascot, Willie the Wildkit. - Special Evanston Water Treatment Facility Tour
The Evanston Utilities Department will host a tour of the City’s water treatment facility, located at 555 Lincoln St., from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Community members interested in the water treatment facility tour should email utilities@cityofevanston.org or call 847-448-8198 and provide their name, address and phone number, as well as the names of others in their party. Registration for the tour is first-come, first-served, and is limited to the first 30 Evanston residents who sign up.
Evanston establishments are also celebrating the day with various specials, including the new “1972” cocktail at Smylie Brothers Brewing Company. The drink is named after the year Evanston started allowing alcohol sales and features Few Spirit gin. Other food specials include a free appetizer from Trattoria Demi, discounts on bread from Hewn, and a chance to win a free lunch at Curt’s Café.
Bottle & Bottega Evanston will also host a “We Love Evanston Day” event allowing participants to show their love for Evanston by painting images depicting reasons why we love our amazing city! The goal of the event is to boost sales for local businesses, create awareness about the We Love Evanston campaign, create photo opportunities for community members to share on social media using #WeLoveEvanston, and to educate the community about the city’s sustainability efforts.
