At approximately 3:55 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, Evanston fire companies were dispatched to the 2800 block of Harrison Street for the report of a house on fire.This is a two story frame, single family house.
First arriving fire companies reported heavy fire in the rear second floor bedroom which had vented through a window and was extending into the attic space of the house. The alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm to the second level. Fire companies from 8 departments in MABAS Division 3 responded to assist on the scene and also for station coverage.
The fire was brought under control around 5:40 p.m. and the alarm was struck at 6:11 p.m. Fire officials will be investigating the cause of the fire.
The homeowners were not at home at the start of the fire and will be displaced due to the fire damage. Assistance from the Red Cross was not needed.
No injuries were reported.
