Two Evanston Township High School students received 2015 Achievement Awards in Writing in the annual awards program sponsored by National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
ETHS juniors Rena Newman and Annabel Paulsen were recognized with Certificates for Superior Writing.
Each fall the ETHS English Department chooses student essays to be submitted to the NCTE for consideration at the national level.
This year, the NCTE received 650 nominations from high schools across the country and 141 students received Certificates for Superior Writing.
Each student submitted two pieces of writing, which were read by national judges. Papers were judged on content, purpose, audience, tone, word choice, organization, development, and style.
