The lunch crowd at Mt. Everest doubled on April 30, as word of a fundraiser for victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal spread around the City.
More than 200 people enjoyed the delicious buffet in Evanston’s only Nepalese restaurant, 630 Church St. Ramakant Kharel, owner of Mt. Everest, donated 10% of the revenues of the April 30 lunch and all the revenues from a similar benefit lunch held on May 3 to AmeriCares.
Many diners and other private individuals contributed to AmeriCares, and Steve Hagerty, founder and CEO of Evanston-based Hagerty Consulting, organized the April 30 lunch benefit. His company matched all donations dollar for dollar.
By early May, donations had topped $16,000, a representative from Hagerty told the RoundTable.
