Updated: On Monday, June 8, 2015 at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Evanston Police Department received multiple calls of shots fired in the area of the 2000 block of Emerson Street. Responding officers located a man shot multiple times inside a vehicle that was in a parking area adjacent to the alley on the north side of the street, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. The man was transported to Evanston-Northshore Hospital and pronounced dead.
The Evanston Police Department detective division with the assistance of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) are currently conducting an investigation into the incident. The victim is identified as Ray Owens, 27 years of age and a resident of Chicago. No further information is being released at this time, said Cmdr. Dugan.
