Ald. Braithwaite focuses his City work on economic development, particularly in providing workforce development opportunities for youth and young adults. His community service work has also been honored by the Rotary Foundation, Evanston Community Foundation and Chessmen Club.
Bernice Weissbourd presented the Weissbourd-Holmes Award to the family of Marquise Weatherspoon, a young mother of four who has overcome many obstacles and whose “top priority is her family.” Dr. Dorothy Williams, director of Family Focus, told the RoundTable Ms. Weatherspoon “represents the strengths that a parent would have to have to have her children be productive citizens.”
