The Evanston Symphony Orchestra will present a special chamber music benefit concert at 3 p.m. on June 28 at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave.
Fifteen principal and co-principal players, including Music Director Lawrence Eckerling, will form three quintets and perform in support of the Orchestra’s varied activities.
The principal work of the hour long concert will be Schubert’s tuneful “Trout” Quintet with Maestro Eckerling as pianist with four string principals. The woodwind quintet will play an arrangement of melodies from Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” and the brass quintet will perform compositions of Dukas, Gabrieli and Pollack.
Patrons will have the opportunity to meet the musicians at a free reception with refreshments immediately following the concert. Ticket order forms and additional information are available online at www.evanstonsymphony.org or by calling 847-864-8804.
