The Evanston Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on June 24, at approximately 11:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Leland Avenue, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.
A man, age 32, who resides in Evanston was sitting parked in his vehicle when a gold colored vehicle pulled up next to him. A passenger in the gold vehicle, described as a black man with braided hair, asked the victim his name and then fired two gunshots at him, said the Commander. The victim was struck one time in the neck by one of the shots. The gold vehicle fled the area westbound on Emerson Street. A passenger in the victim’s vehicle drove him to Evanston Hospital for treatment. The victim’s wound is not considered life threatening, said the Commander.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Evanston Police Department non-emergency number at(847) 866-5000 and ask for the detective bureau or utilize Text-A-Tip by sending an anonymous text message to CRIMES (274637) and typing EPD TIP in the message line followed by the information.
