Again this year the historic Main/Chicago area was a madcap of shopping and culture, with more than 250 artists and craftspeople, 150 local business-people, tasty food and lively music performances.

It was the annual Custer Street Fair, which spreads west and south from the intersection and attracts hundreds of visitors each day of its two-day early-summer run. In addition the fair offered kid-centered activities and entertainment.

Along with the Starlight Concerts, the Custer Street Fair is the kickoff of summer entertainment in Evanston.
