Evanston’s own Everyday Cycles and Motion, located at 941 Chicago Avenue, celebrated its grand opening on June 19 with a ribbon cutting. Owners Mark Nelson and Liz Durham show their love for cycling with the name of their store. They chose Everyday Cycles and Motion because they, “wanted a name that followed our beliefs,” Ms. Durham said. She said that bikes are for “everyday use” and are “for business, transport, and fun.”
Even while the store was being constructed the owners offered their services to the City’s cyclists. They offered coffee and bagels for bikers during the June 12-19 Bike to Work Week. “We see our shop as connected to the City,” said Ms. Durham. At the grand opening Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl thanked the owners, “for opening in Evanston.” Mr. Nelson and Ms. Durham said they chose Evanston as they had both previously worked in the City and found it be a pleasant place to bike.
