“The District 202 School Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the request of 3 School Board members. The stated purpose of this meeting was to discuss a process for selecting a member to be appointed to fill the vacancy on the school board. During the meeting, the board voted to go into closed session in order to discuss the candidates. After the closed session, the board is still at an impasse over appointing a new School Board member.
“According to the Illinois School Law, the next step is as follows: “When a vacancy occurs on a board of directors, the remaining directors must, within 45 days, fill the vacancy by appointment until the next regular school election. If they fail to do so, the regional superintendent must fill the vacancy by appointment within 30 days.”
“As per this law, the School Board will contact the regional superintendent for specific instructions on the process.”
