From Tuesday, August 4 through Saturday, August 22, community members are invited to attend free movies in Evanston parks on Tuesdays and Saturdays as a part of the City’s 2015 Starlight Movies in the Park series. This year, attendees will get to enjoy various films including Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Star Trek (2009), The LEGO Movie, The Great Debaters, and more! All movies will start at dusk. To view the complete movie schedule, visit cityofevanston.org/starlight. On Saturday, August 22, community members are encouraged to have some fun by dressing up as their favorite superhero at the Starlight Movie event, featuring Guardians of the Galaxy, at James Park, located at Dodge Ave. at Mulford St. Similar to last year, local youth age 21 and younger are invited to submit their locally-made, short films to be screened as opening trailers during the 2015 Starlight Movies in the Park series. Submissions will be accepted through Friday, August 21. Valid entries must be 15 minutes or less, formatted on a DVD-R disc that can be played in the U.S., and include the name of the participant, their role(s) in the production, age, address, email and phone number. Interested participants can drop off their submissions at the Cultural Arts Office, Room 1116, located in the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center. Local youth can also mail in their film to Starlight Movies c/o Galen Anderson, Cultural Arts Room 1116, Parks, Recreation and Community Services, Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201. Participants who wish to have their DVD returned must include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Selected parties will be notified when and where their film will be played closer to the premiere date. For more information regarding the film submission process, please contact Senior Program Coordinator Angela Allyn at 847-448-8263. |
