Co-developers, Fifield Cos. and Carroll Properties, along with architect FitzGerald Associates and general contractor McHugh Construction, have been recognized by Design Evanston, a non-profit design advocacy group, as a 2015 award winner in the category of Significant Contribution in New Construction for their work on E2, a 356-unit luxury apartment project in downtown Evanston. that opened this spring.

“To be recognized with this award is truly an honor,” said Randy Fifield, vice chairman of Fifield Cos. “E2 was designed with the Evanston community in mind. It was always our goal to give local residents the best of what a sophisticated urban rental lifestyle has to offer, while also contributing to the Evanston community as a whole. We didn’t want to just provide local residents with a first-of-its-kind luxury rental property, but also give local business owners and artists a true live-work-play community where they can oversee their business operations from the comfort of their own homes at E2, as well as have direct access to their clientele base.”

Designed to LEED Silver standards, E2 consists of two buildings, a 16-story tower at 1881 Oak Ave. and a 14-story tower at 1890 Maple Ave. The buildings are connected by a four-story structure with three floors of parking and an amenity deck. At the base of E2 is 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. In addition to its tower residences, E2 also has 12 rental townhomes with private entrances along Emerson Street.
