The Evanston Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred today, July 29, at approximately 3:54 p.m. in the 1700 block of Emerson Street, said Commander Joseph Dugan.  A male victim, age 22, who resides in Skokie told police that he pulled over and exited his vehicle in the 1700 block of Emerson when a male subject who was walking westbound on Emerson Street pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at him, said the Commander.

 The victim was struck one time in the thigh and was driven by an acquaintance to Evanston Hospital for treatment.  At this time the injury is not considered life-threatening.  Evanston detectives are currently on the scene conducting an investigation into the incident.  The only suspect description currently known is the offender is a male/black wearing a blue shirt, said the Commander.
