The City of Evanston is seeking letters of intent from experienced artists (at least 18 years old) to paint a mural on the exterior and interior walls of the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center. The mural must be one large piece that celebrates the cultural identity of the neighborhood. The deadline to submit a letter of intent is Friday, August 21, 2015 at noon.
The Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, located at 1823 Church St., will be used by the City of Evanston’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department for programs focused on culture, education, health/wellness and outreach. The building features a café, meeting space, performance venue, recording studio and a fenced-in backyard.
There will be a mandatory meeting for artists who are interested in this project on Friday, August 7, 2 p.m., at the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center. The meeting will include a viewing of the space and a Q&A session.
