 – Community members are invited to attend Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre’s three Summertime Season concerts on Thursday, August 27 through Saturday, August 29, to be held at 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.

To kick off FJT’s three-day concert series on August 27, at 7 p.m., audience members will enjoy music by some of the industry’s greatest groups from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s at the “Old School R&B Concert.” Concert-goers will take a trip back in time with a musical lift by The MoeFitz Project that will be sure to leave everyone dancing in the aisles.

On Friday, August 28, at 7 p.m., music lovers are invited back to the theatre for the “Jazz Meets Delta Blues Concert.” World renowned jazz bassist Marlene Rosenberg and the authentic Delta bluesman David “Chainsaw” Dupont will play a mixture of original and classic Jazz tunes, along with downhome Delta Blues. The intimacy of this concert is absolutely brilliant and a real music enthusiast’s treat.

Tickets to attend these concerts are $12 when purchased in advance online at fjtheatre.com or in person. Tickets can be purchased at Evanston community centers during office hours and the Morton Civic Center, Room 1100, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If purchased at the door on the day of the event, tickets will cost $17.

Before the curtains officially close on its Summertime Season, community members are encouraged to attend FJT’s annual Black Tie Gala and enjoy “Black Voices of Opera” on Saturday, August 29. The event begins at 6 p.m. complete with wine, tapas-style hors d’oeuvres, and a millionaire-themed silent auction.

Following the reception, at 7 p.m., attendees will enjoy a special concert featuring some of the most beautiful music ever composed, sung by a collection of African American opera singers. After the concert, guests are invited back to the art gallery to nibble on decadent desserts, sip from flutes of sparkling champagne, and dance into the late night with music spun by DJ Rob Simmons.

Tickets to attend FJT’s Gala are $50 when purchased in advance online at fjtheatre.com or in person. Tickets can be purchased at Evanston community centers during office hours and the Morton Civic Center, Room 1100, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
