Evanston Fire Department is announcing the retirement of Division Chief Tom Janetske effective Friday, September 4, 2015.

Division Chief Janetske started his career with the Evanston Fire Department on August 14, 1989 and has served the City of Evanston for just over 26 years.  Janetske was promoted to Division Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau in 2008 and was also appointed the City’s Emergency Preparedness Manager that same year.   

“Division Chief Janetske has served our Department and the City of Evanston with honor and dedication for over 26 years. Tom’s knowledge in the areas of fire prevention, life safety code enforcement and all hazards planning will be missed.  I relied on Tom’s expertise and acumen in each of these areas and I appreciate all that he has done for the Evanston Fire Department and the City of Evanston throughout his distinguished career.  We are thankful for all he has done to leave our Department in a better place” stated Fire Chief Greg Klaiber.

The Evanston Fire Department would like to thank Division Chief Janetske for his exemplary service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.  

The Department will hold a retirement ceremony for Division Chief Janetske on Thursday, September 3, at 2:00pm in the Sanders Hicks Training Classroom, 909 Lake Street.
