The Levy Senior Center Foundation will hold a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 19 at the Center, 300 Dodge Ave. The goal is to generate $30,000, one half the cost of a new bus that will transport older adults to events, shopping trips and special senior-focused excursions.

Called “Get On The Bus!,” the event will feature family-oriented entertainment including a band and dancing, silent auction, themed mini-golf, wine, food trucks and games.

“Our current bus is more than 15 years old and is in great need of replacement,” said Judy Newton, event chairperson and Foundation board member. “We are thrilled that The City of Evanston has agreed to match the Foundation dollar-for-dollar in our quest to acquire a new 22-passenger bus – estimated to cost $60,000.”

The event is held in honor and remembrance of long-time Evanston resident and Levy Center supporter Dennis Newton. Tickets, are $50 and available at the door or can be ordered in advance by calling 847-448-8293 or by mail request to 300 Dodge Ave., Evanston IL 60202.
