Evanston Fire Chief Greg Klaiber has announced the promotion of Division Chief Brian Scott to Deputy Chief of Operations and Fire Prevention, effective September 21, 2015

 

Deputy Chief Scott will direct and lead fire suppression operations and manage the Department’s fire prevention bureau. 

 

Deputy Chief Scott joined the Department in December, 1999 as a firefighter/paramedic. In 2006, Scott was promoted to Fire Captain/Paramedic. He was Co-Chair of the Department’s Training Committee, EMS Committee Member, Rescue Dive Team Member and is currently a Field Instructor for the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Urbana-Champaign. Since his promotion in March of 2014, Scott has served as Division Chief of Operations and Training. 

Deputy Chief Scott is currently enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer Certification Program at the United States National Fire Academy. He has a Master’s of Science Degree from Lewis University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southern Illinois University, along with numerous fire training certificates from the Illinois State Fire Marshall and the Illinois Fire Service Institute.

“Deputy Chief Scott is a proven leader. In the last year and a half he has led efforts to improve fire suppression training, implement our Strategic Plan, update the Department’s Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs), and revise departmental rules and regulations,”stated Fire Chief Greg Klaiber. “Deputy Chief Scott possesses the experience, leadership and vision to bring a constructive and positive culture of professionalism and accountability to the Evanston Fire Department,” Chief Klaiber continued.

Deputy Chief Scott will be recognized at the Evanston City Council meeting on September 28, 2015.
