The Evanston Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on Sept.15, at approximately 5:22 p.m. in the rear of a residence in the 1900 block of Emerson Street. The male victim, 45 years of age and a resident of Evanston, was in the rear of the location when four male black suspects approached the residence and began to fire gunshots, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. The male victim was struck one time in the head and was transported to Evanston Hospital in critical condition. The offenders fled the scene westbound on foot.
The campus area of Evanston Township High School was not involved in the shooting incident, said the Commander.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Evanston Police Department non-emergency number at 847-866-5000 and ask for the detective bureau or utilize Text-A-Tip by sending an anonymous text message to CRIMES (274637) and typing EPD TIP in the message line followed by the information.
