Evanston resident Cesario Cox Sr., 45, has died from a gunshot wound he sustained on Sept. 15, according to a statement from the Evanston Police Department on Sept. 18. The Evanston Police Department detective division, with the assistance of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF), has been conducting an investigation into this incident since the Sept. 15.
Mr. Cox was shot in the head one time while standing on a porch at the rear of a residence in the 1900 block of Emerson Street. Four men approached and began firing. He was taken to Evanston Hospital.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Evanston Police Department non-emergency number at (847) 866-5000 and ask for the detective bureau or utilize Text-A-Tip by sending an anonymous text message to CRIMES (274637) and typing EPDTIP in the message line followed by the information.
