Founded and led by Dajae’s mother, Tiffany Rice, DC3F honors his legacy through its mission to “Uplift, Encourage, Empower and Reward Our Youth.” During DaeDaeWorld Weekend, the Evanston community will take part in family- and sports-oriented activities, honoring Dajae’s life and passions while continuing to positively reinforce the lives of Evanston youth.
The weekend will kick off on Friday at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center with a free family fun night. All are welcome to enjoy skating, pizza, arts and crafts, and music by a live DJ between 7 and 10 p.m. Various community organizations will be present until 8.30 p.m. to raise awareness of the services they offer to help family and youth thrive.
On Saturday, the event will move to Evanston Township High School for a day of sports and athletics. As Dajae was an honor student and a basketball player at ETHS who would have been starting senior year in the fall, this day will be a poignant and meaningful one. Youth eager to test their mental and physical abilities and push their sporting boundaries will look forward to “The Challenge: Evanston,” where competitors will take part in different missions that use challenge-oriented TV as templates. Youth will build teamwork skills and develop player etiquette while competing for prizes.
DaeDaeWorld Weekend will close with a DC3 E-Town Ballers Basketball Game between Dajae’s longtime teammates, family and coaches. As rivals, DaeDae’s Disciples and Team Old School have won one match each in the last two DaeDaeWorld Weekends, 2015 stands as an exciting tiebreaker year. The annual match has wowed crowds for two years running, and this one will be no less electrifying.
The past two DaeDaeWorld Weekends have drawn hundreds of youth and adults to celebrate Dajae’s legacy with fun and family, making it DC3F’s major annual event. This year, DC3F continues to go from strength to strength with informative college readiness programs, tutoring, summer reading initiatives and scholarships for high-achieving students.
