For the fourth consecutive year, National Diaper Need Awareness Week will draw attention to the fact that not all infants in this country have sufficient diapers to be clean, dry and healthy.
The National Diaper Bank says, “One in three American families reports struggling with
diaper need, a hidden consequence of poverty.” The National Diaper Banks says it hopes that this year’s Diaper Need Awareness Week, Sept. 28 – Oct. 4, may prompt elected officials, organizations and individuals to help get diapers to babies who need them.
Some childcare centers accept packs of unopened diapers. The diaper pantry Bundled Blessings, a mission of First United Methodist, 516 Church St., helps more than 100 families each month. Donations of cash and unopened packs of diapers are welcome.
