On Sept. 27, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a 1998 Nisan traveling northbound in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue struck multiple cars parked on both sides of the street causing the vehicle to rollover where it came to rest in front of 1739 Dodge Ave., said Perry Polinski of the Evanston Police Department. A 42 year old Evanston woman was driving the car. When the car came to rest a 45 year old man in the front passenger seat was trapped, requiring extrication by the Evanston Fire Department.

Paramedics transported both occupants to Evanston North Shore University Hospital where the passenger, Lamart Bailey, an Evanston resident and U.S. Army veteran, was pronounced dead. The driver is reportedly in serious, but stable condition, said Mr. Polinski.

Officers from the Evanston Police Department’s Traffic Bureau, along with assistance from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force / Major Crash Assistance Team, are investigating the crash.
