City officials, police officers and others tiptoed and tottered their way through the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on Oct. 4, hosted by Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault.

Sexual assault and sexual abuse are problems that plague society, but only about 30% of these are actually reported to police. Police Chief Richard Eddington spoke about domestic violence and the need for the community to be supportive of victims.

He also said, “This public event shows community support for them.” In photo above, City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz, second from right, and Second Ward Alderman Peter Braithwaite, center, joined others in fancy red heels for the walk.
