Oakton School welcomed Principal Wayne Williams and Assistant Principal Deborah Osher during the school’s annual Back to School picnic, Sept. 24. Dozens of families showed up to enjoy a gorgeous late summer evening while noshing on hot dogs expertly grilled by P.E. Teacher Al Boykin, along with chips and cookies served up by Oakton parents and teachers. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many grown ups and kids having fun together on this playground!” said Meghan Vinson, parent of an Oakton third-grader. Daniela Nelke, co-president of the Oakton PTA and parent of a first- and second-grader, summed up the night: “What a great way to show Mr. Williams and Dr. Osher what an awesome parent community we have.” Photo by Ellen Almer
