Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl recently proclaimed Oct. 24, as Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes (SASI) Day in the City of Evanston, in honor of SASI’s 40th anniversary.
SASI is a nonprofit home care agency which helps seniors and other adults who, due to aging, illness or injury, need assistance to be safe and comfortable at home. Licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health, SASI employs over 60 trained, professional caregivers who serve clients in Evanston, Chicago and the north and near west suburbs.
The proclamation lauds SASI as a valuable community asset which provides its diverse services with compassion and respect, and supports older adults and adults with disabilities to remain independent by providing assistance with some of life’s most basic functions, such as bathing or preparing meals. SASI is based in Evanston and recently aligned with Chicagoland Methodist Senior Services to provide home care to its constituents. Governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors, SASI charges affordable rates and pays its hardworking, dedicated caregivers fair compensation.
SASI will celebrate its 40th anniversary at a fundraiser, The Ruby Slipper Event, on Oct. 24. Tickets at $125/person are available at 847-864-7274.
