The City of Evanston invites community members to cast their vote for their favorite snow plow design as part of the 10th annual Paint Evanston Plows Contest. Votes can be cast online at surveymonkey.com/r/2015thinkoutsidethebag or by calling/texting 847-448-4311.

Every year, the City’s Infrastructure & Maintenance Bureau invites all public and private schools in Evanston to paint murals on the blades of City snow plows. Ten schools participated in this year’s contest, including Dawes, Lincoln, Washington, Willard, and Lincolnwood elementary schools; Chute, Haven and Nichols middle schools; and St. Athanasius and Pope John XXIII schools. Students were encouraged to depict school, city, holiday or winter spirit through this year’s theme, “Think Outside the Bag.”

The decorated plow blades are currently on display in front of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., Evanston. Voting closes Tuesday, November 17 at 5 p.m.

On Monday, November 23, at the City Council meeting, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl will present plaques to winners in the following categories: “Best Theme Spirit,” “Evanstonian’s Choice,” and “Mayor’s Choice.”
