On Nov. 11, 2015 at approximately 4:16 p.m., members of the Neighborhood Enforcement Team who were patrolling near the area of Lake Street and Dodge Avenue heard gunshots coming from Lake Street and Darrow Avenue, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.  When the officers approached the intersection, they observed two persons run into a residence in the 1800 block of Lake Street. As the detectives exited their vehicle, they could still smell gunpowder in the air and were informed by witnesses that the persons who ran inside the residence were shooting at another group farther north on Darrow Avenue. No victims were located by responding officers.

Detectives and responding patrol officers set up a perimeter at the residence. The two suspects eventually exited the residence at approximately 5:40 p.m. without incident, and the residence was secured by officers on scene. One loaded .380 caliber handgun was recovered from inside the residence. One adult male and one juvenile male, both of whom are Evanston residents are currently in custody, said the Commander. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Three news helicopters were seen hovering over the area at about 5:45 p.m.
