James Maiworm, Bureau Chief – Infrastructure Maintenance, issued the following snow alert on Nov. 19:
“The City of Evanston Public Works Agency is preparing for the first snow of the season. Although snow is a little early this year unusual weather is something we have all become accustom to.
“Our current forecast thinking is that Lake Michigan will provide a strong influence. The winds off the lake will warm temperatures with a rain and snow mix possible. Pavement temperatures are quite warm as well, hovering in the upper 40’s to low 50’s. These warm pavement temperatures will, at least initially, present a challenge for snow to accumulate.
“Public Works is currently expecting snowfall in the 1-3” range with less accumulating on pavement.
“More updates will follow as the storm get closer and the track is verified.”
