Every year, the City’s Infrastructure and Maintenance Bureau invites all public and private schools in Evanston to paint murals on the blades of City snow plows. Participating schools were Dawes, Lincoln, Washington, Willard, and Lincolnwood elementary schools; Chute, Haven and Nichols middle schools; and St. Athanasius and Pope John XXIII schools. Students were encouraged to depict school, City, holiday or winter spirit through this year’s theme, “Think Outside the Bag.”
Ten Evanston snow plow blades are looking particularly festive this season, thanks to the teachers and students who participated in the 10th annual Paint Evanston Plows Contest. At the Nov. 23 Administration and Public Works Committee meeting, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl announced the following winners:
Evanstonians’ Choice Award:
Pope John XXIII School
Best Theme Spirit Award:
Lincolnwood Elementary School
Mayor’s Choice Award:
Saint Athanasius School and Lincoln Elementary School
