On Dec. 15,at approximately 6:45 p.m., detectives from the Neighborhood Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle in the 1400 block of South Boulevard for a minor traffic violation. When they approached the vehicle, the detectives observed a handgun on the floor board behind the front passenger seat, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. The weapon, a loaded Taurus Millennium .45 caliber handgun with the serial number obliterated, was recovered and the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody, said the Commander.
The driver of the vehicle is a 29-year old male and a resident of Evanston. He was subsequently charged with felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon with Defaced Identification Markings, said the Commander.
